Alana M. Tucker
Alana Tucker joined the GSG team in 2014. She came directly from Cincinnati City Councilwoman Amy Murray’s office where she served as the Community Outreach Director. While at the city, Alana worked on projects focusing on regional cooperation and shared services, transportation, public services and the city budget. She served as a liaison with the city’s 52 neighborhoods, troubleshooting and overcoming obstacles while creating impactful and long lasting relationships.
Alana has been involved in political campaigns over the past 15 years, including presidential, congressional and several local judicial and county campaigns. Alana’s campaign work has included fundraising, grassroots outreach, communications and local political strategy. In 2013, she managed a successful campaign for now Cincinnati City Councilwoman Murray.
Prior to her fulltime work in local politics, Alana taught American Government and AP Psychology at Colerain High School. While teaching, she led Northwest Local School District in the implementation of Ohio Senate Bill 311 education reforms which directed Ohio school districts to integrate the study of economics and financial literacy. Alana designed Financial Literacy Curriculum for the national restaurant chain, McDonald’s. This material has been delivered in a series of workshops for McDonald’s Management Teams. She has presented workshops at the JumpStart Coalition’s National Financial Literacy Conference in Washington, D.C. to a national audience entitled, “If We Don’t Teach Them, Who Will?” She has additionally trained in research methods and primary resources at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
Alana received her Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from Miami University of Oxford, Ohio as well as a Masters Degree in Teaching from Miami University. She has pursued additional graduate work at both the University of Cincinnati and Miami University. Alana is a Councilmember for the City of Cheviot, where she chair’s Committees on Municipal Properties and Community Events. She is a member of the Jo Ann Davidson’s Leadership Institute. She previously served on Mayor Cranley’s Young Professional Kitchen Cabinet. Alana is in the current class of the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber’s WE Lead. Alana resides in Cheviot with her husband Gary.
